We have completed six full weeks of in-person school! This week we successfully reintroduced a short after-school recess for grades K-6 (masks are required). A new change to be aware of: While parents/guardians are still not allowed in the school building, they can leave their vehicles when picking up students (please wear your masks). Our goal is to return to our pre-COVID routines as soon, yet as safely, as possible .

As of Monday, October 5, Cove School is moving back to our pre-COVID time schedule. We will be open from 7:30 am-4:30 pm Monday through Wednesday, and 7:30 am-4:00 pm on Thursdays. Please do not drop your kids off or have them to walk to the school before 7:30 am. They are not allowed in the building (or on the playground) before that time, and we don't want them having to wait outside in the cold.

8:46 AM EST. Patriot Day is a United States national observance that honors the memory of those who were killed in the September 11 attacks. It was first observed in 2002, after the proclamation by President George W. Bush. On September 11, 2001 al-Qaeda launched a series of coordinated terrorist attacks upon the United States, killing almost 3,000 people. In the immediate aftermath of the tragic events, President Bush proclaimed September 14, 2001 as a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the Victims of the Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001. A year later, September 11 was made a national day of mourning referred to as Patriot Day. This observance has been proclaimed annually since 2002. In 2009, President Barack Obama rededicated it as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. On Patriot Day, the national flag is flown at half-mast on all United States government buildings and establishments. Individuals are also encouraged to display flags on their homes. A moment of silence is traditionally observed at 8:46 AM. Cove School District joins with other American institutions and people in remembrance of the victims of 9/11.

Bus Transportation Changes effective Monday 9/14. The La Grande bus will return to its regular schedule with one bus - departing BiMart at 7AM and Faith Center at 7:10AM. The afternoon drop offs will be at 4PM for Faith Center and 4:10 for BiMart. With lower than anticipated ridership due to students opting for online instruction, all safety protocols may now be observed on a single bus. The Lower Cove route will return to its normal schedule - riders will be contacted and reminded of pickup/drop off times. Route Leopard remains unchanged.
