Week three of in-person classes at Cove School has begun! A huge thank you to all who have helped make this possible. As we move into cold and flu season, please continue to screen students before sending them to school each day. Let's keep our school and community as healthy as possible!
8:46 AM EST. Patriot Day is a United States national observance that honors the memory of those who were killed in the September 11 attacks. It was first observed in 2002, after the proclamation by President George W. Bush.
On September 11, 2001 al-Qaeda launched a series of coordinated terrorist attacks upon the United States, killing almost 3,000 people. In the immediate aftermath of the tragic events, President Bush proclaimed September 14, 2001 as a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance for the Victims of the Terrorist Attacks on September 11, 2001. A year later, September 11 was made a national day of mourning referred to as Patriot Day. This observance has been proclaimed annually since 2002.
In 2009, President Barack Obama rededicated it as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. On Patriot Day, the national flag is flown at half-mast on all United States government buildings and establishments. Individuals are also encouraged to display flags on their homes.
A moment of silence is traditionally observed at 8:46 AM. Cove School District joins with other American institutions and people in remembrance of the victims of 9/11.
Bus Transportation Changes effective Monday 9/14. The La Grande bus will return to its regular schedule with one bus - departing BiMart at 7AM and Faith Center at 7:10AM. The afternoon drop offs will be at 4PM for Faith Center and 4:10 for BiMart. With lower than anticipated ridership due to students opting for online instruction, all safety protocols may now be observed on a single bus. The Lower Cove route will return to its normal schedule - riders will be contacted and reminded of pickup/drop off times. Route Leopard remains unchanged.

2nd grade had a great week! We “caught” lots of stories, wrote “I Am Jams.” explored math tools and worked on our reading and mask wearing stamina. We especially loved recess and eating in the new cafeteria!
In observance of the social and economic achievements of American workers, Cove School District will be closed on September 7. We join you in recognizing the the great American achievements this Labor Day.
Cove Art students are ready to look for, find and share the beautiful details that surround us everywhere. Stay tuned!
I thought after 6 months of summer vacation we might have to ease back into a learning environment but boy was I wrong. 4th grade is rocking and rolling, they are a great group of learners. Thank you to everyone for keeping us safe and making it happen.
Week one is in the books for Third Grade! We have got the hang of our new routines, logins and passwords, and are ready to dive into our curriculum. It was definitely a week well spent in our classroom, together.
5th grade had an amazing week 1!!! Thank you to all of my students and parents for a strong start!!
Kindergarten had a great first week of school. Recess was a big hit!
1st grade enjoyed popsicles in the shade after our math lesson taught us different ways to graph our favorite flavors! It was a great way to cool off on a hot afternoon.
172 consecutive days without students in my classroom. 172! We finally broke the streak and it has been so nice to have students walking around campus and participating in the classroom this week. Thank you to the school board and administration for making sure this week happened and that it happened safely!
Lyndon B. Johnson said, “Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose.” Cove High School was awesome this week. Never before have I seen so many students working together towards one common goal. Kudos to the CHS community for making this happen.
We are back! We struggled a bit with the internet connection this week, but that did not stop the 7th Grade from making some amazing Origami and great paper airplanes. Congrats to Paige and Will for winning the distance and flight time competitions!
Cove First Grader Madilyn Knieriem was among the first to earn the Cove Leopard Drivers License. "Driver's Training" consists of learning the re-entry rules then "testing" by demonstrating their skills on the "Highway to Success" which is also known as the elementary hall.
This is not the way I like to teach, I am a group person, but when I see their smiling faces & realize how much they appreciate being back in the classroom, it's all worth it! My heart is so happy! Keep up the good work Cove School - masks, distancing, cohorts but most of all the positive attitude!
